Life-Changing Program for People with Disabilities will be Unveiled at Press Conference Capitol Rotunda: Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. STORY:
Today, there is an estimated 90,000 people
living with a disability in Dauphin, Cumberland,
Juniata, Mifflin and Perry Counties. The truth is
that everyone is one accident away from becoming a
person with a disability. Unfortunately, it is well
known that in the past there has been a high level
of frustration associated with finding the
programs, services, support and opportunities
available to people with disabilities.
WHAT:
The Center for Independent Living of Central
Pennsylvania will launch a new, innovative program
that is the first of its kind in Central
Pennsylvania and is designed to overcome the
challenges and hurdles of existing referral
systems. The program, which has been a year in the
making, was established by people with
disabilities, for people with disabilities. It is
being called a momentous victory for people with
disabilities, their friends, family and loved ones.
