CONSUMERS TO RECEIVE ACCESSIBLE RAMPS FROM HBA HELPING HANDS PROJECT Project one of three completed to fulfill need for accessible homes A view of one of the ramps being installed   (Harrisburg, Pa.) - On Saturday, November 10, Loews General Construction Company, Lezzer Lumber and 84 Lumber donated time and materials to install wheelchair ramps for a local Camp Hill family, the Estok's. This ramp installation kicks off a three-part project by the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg's (HBA's), Helping Hands - Building a Better Community, and the Center for Independent Living of Central Pa. (CILCP), to make homes in Central Pa. more accessible. "It's a great feeling of accomplishment to help someone in need. It makes you feel good when you're driving home thinking about what you just did," said Harold Loews, owner of Loews General Construction Company. Prior to the ramps being installed, the Estok home wasn't fire accessible for Dorie Estok, who has been in a wheelchair since 1982. Now, as a result of the relationship between the HBA and CILCP, the Estok home has a ramp in the garage, at the front door and on the outside porch making the home safe and accessible. Loews' General Construction prepares to install three ramps for the Estok Family of Camp Hill.  "We are very thankful for this help in making our home accessible," said Mike Estok, "It's nice to see all these people working together." The construction and materials for the projects are all being donated by local companies including Clearview of Harrisburg; Restore Core Inc.; Loews General Construction; 84 Lumber and Lezzer Lumber. The HBA hopes to continue constructing ramps either on an annual basis or by need if funding and donations continue. "We have waiting lists of individuals who request ramps to make their homes accessible; this collaboration with HBA will help us meet that need," said Lynn Stewart, Director of Housing at CILCP.
