A view of one of
the ramps being installed "It's a great feeling of accomplishment to help someone in need. It makes you feel good when you're driving home thinking about what you just did," said Harold Loews, owner of Loews General Construction Company. Prior to the ramps being installed, the Estok
home wasn't fire accessible for Dorie Estok, who has been in
a wheelchair since 1982. Now, as a result of the
relationship between the HBA and CILCP, the Estok home has a
ramp in the garage, at the front door and on the outside
porch making the home safe and accessible. Loews' General Construction
prepares to install three ramps for the Estok
Family of Camp Hill.
The construction and materials for the projects are all being donated by local companies including Clearview of Harrisburg; Restore Core Inc.; Loews General Construction; 84 Lumber and Lezzer Lumber. The HBA hopes to continue constructing ramps either on an annual basis or by need if funding and donations continue. "We have waiting lists of individuals who request ramps to make their homes accessible; this collaboration with HBA will help us meet that need," said Lynn Stewart, Director of Housing at CILCP. "We are very thankful to HBA and the companies who have donated their time and material to make these projects happen." "It's a great
