PA DISCIPLINARY BOARD MEMBER ELECTED AS
PENNSYLVANIA BAR ASSOCIATION TREASURER

(Lemoyne, Pa.)- The
Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
announced that one of the members of the Board was elected
treasurer of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) in early
June. Francis X. O'Connor, Esq., an attorney and
sole practitioner from Great Bend, is a former member of the
PBA Board of Governors, past chair of the PBA Membership
Committee, and past president of the Conference of County
Bar Leaders. Additionally, he is secretary/treasurer of the
Susquehanna County Bar Association.
As a member of the Disciplinary
Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, originally
appointed in 2003, O'Connor is one of 16 members, of which
14 are attorneys and two are non-lawyers from across the
state. The Disciplinary Board assists the Supreme Court in
carrying out its exclusive jurisdiction over the licensing
and discipline of attorneys in Pennsylvania. The members
meet regularly to decide cases, policies and board
administrative matters.
O'Connor has spoken widely on
lawyer discipline and legal ethics and authored numerous
articles on both topics. A graduate of the University of
Scranton, O'Connor received his law degree from the St.
Louis University Law School.
An active community member, the
Susquehanna County resident works with the Boy Scouts of
America, serves as solicitor for the Great Bend Fire Company
and as a member/attendant for the Great Bend/Hallstead
Volunteer Ambulance Company.

The Disciplinary Board's goals are to protect the
general public, maintain a high standard of integrity in the
legal profession, and safeguard the reputation of the courts
of Pennsylvania. The Disciplinary Board was created by the
Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to review the conduct and
assure the compliance by all attorneys to the Pennsylvania
