MEDIA EVENT LAUNCHES PROGRAM TO ENHANCE THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

On behalf of the Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania, Hershey Philbin Associates (HPA) coordinated and executed the launch of a new, innovative program for people with disabilities. Branded by the agency as Living Well With A Disability, One Call, Countless Resources, Endless Opportunities, HPA kept the details highly guarded until the press conference. The effective "unveiling" approach generated interest and intrigue across the mid-state.

HPA's efforts brought nearly 100 social service organizations and representatives of the disability community to the Capitol Rotunda on July 24 to join CILCP in launching the program. Speaker Dennis O'Brien and Secretary of the Department of Public Welfare Estelle Richman, among others, offered formal remarks and full support of the program.

As a result of the press conference that generated extensive media coverage across the state and in Central Pennsylvania, the CILCP received an overwhelming number of phone calls through its new toll free hotline.

Launched the day of the press conference, the hotline was designed to provide a one-stop source for information, services and support to people with disabilities and the community.

"It has been such a pleasure working with you all on this LWD campaign. You all have consistently worked well with the CILCP since the onset, but clearly you shine brightly when needed the most," Executive Director of CILCP, Theotis Braddy.
