Identify and target at-risk women within the Chambersburg area community for a free heart screening.

A community outreach program was developed to provide vital heart health screenings to at-risk and hard-to-reach populations. Advertising vehicles including radio, billboard, posters and post cards were created using a strong emotional appeal in English and Spanish languages. Street level marketing tactics, using churches, community leaders and local businesses were also employed to organize high response rates and increase trust from ethnic populations. "Non-conventional communications tools can be very effective in educating hard-to-reach audiences and, in this case, it may make a life or death difference for many families," Victoria Radabaugh said.
